BREAKING: Texas Football Spring Practices Postponed

Amid the ongoing Coronavirus concern, the Big 12 Conference announced Thursday that all regular-season competitions, on and off campus recruiting and out-of-season practices will be suspended until March 29. Shortly following the conference’s statement, University of Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte announced all Longhorn sports competitions will be canceled beginning with Friday’s baseball series, while spring football practice will also be postponed until after March 29.

“With the Big 12’s recent announcement suspending many athletics activities until Sunday, March 29, all regular-season Longhorn athletics competitions, home and away, will be canceled beginning with our baseball series on Friday,” Del Conte said Thursday afternoon. “In addition to in-season sports with current regular-season competition like baseball, golf, rowing, softball and tennis, this will also include the Texas Relays and spring soccer matches, and postpone the start of spring football practice until after the March 29 date. This is a very fluid situation and one that has the best interest of the health, safety and well being of everyone involved. We appreciate everyone’s support and patience on this and will continue to provice updates as decisions are made.

Texas Football was scheduled to began March 24.
