How OC Mike Yurcich Fits with Texas Longhorns Football [VIDEO]

After an 8-5 season in 2019, Longhorns coach Tom Herman overhauled nearly his entire coaching staff, including changes at Offensive and Defensive Coordinator.

New OC Mike Yurcich comes over from Ohio State, serving as passing game coordinator and QB coach for a Buckeyes program that made the College Football Playoff and averaged more than 46 points per game. He also helped develop Heisman finalist Justin Fields.

Before Ohio State, Yurcich spent six years as OC with Oklahoma State, overseeing four 10-win seasons. Texas just hired former OSU quarterback JW Walsh, who played under Yurcich, as an offensive analyst.

The folks at The Daily Texan along with college football commentator R.J. Young break down how Yurcich’s philosophy and approach fit with Texas football, including multiple play examples, in the videos below.

Comment on the Forums on what you think he brings to the Texas offense.
